Transparency and Accountability in Primary Education
What next after the report:
TIU will implement subsequent activities aimed at improving transparency and accountability in primary education. The follow up activities will be conducted in the three Districts of Apac, Lira and Abim. TIU previously conducted programmes in Lira and Apac and would like to consolidate what was done. Abim has been taken up as the third District because the report highlighted Karamoja as facing more challenges in the delivery of UPE programmes as compared to the other districts. Next steps include:
- Launching and disseminating the research report to various stakeholders
- Setting up Voluntary Accountability committees. These have been formed already and will shortly be trained to equip them with relevant skills to monitor school programmes. The committees will be tasked to monitor accountability and transparency in the running of school programmes.
- Conduct public campaign through various media such radio, community meetings, use of IEC materials, workshops, meetings.
- Run advocacy activities with various duty bearers in the three Districts and at National level
